Berg Voted In 2001 To "Let Banks Share Your Information Without Permission."
In September 2010, an AP analysis found Rep. Pomeroy's claim that Berg "let banks share your information without permission" to be true. The AP reported, "In 2001, Berg supported SB2191, which abolished a provision in state law that required banks and credit unions to get a customer's written permission before the customer's private financial information could be sold or shared with outside companies." SB 2191 passed 77-20. [AP, 9/1/10; SB 2191, 3/29/01, pg. 1162]
Berg Even Opposed Protecting Veterans From Foreclosure...
Rep. Berg voted against a measure that would have protected veterans and active service members from foreclosures. The measure required the Secretary of HUD in consultation with the Secretaries of Defense and Veterans Affairs, to determine the amount necessary to provide assistance under the Emergency Housing Act of 1975 to homeowners who are veterans or members of the Armed Forces on active duty. It would also authorize Congress to appropriate this amount of assistance to veterans and members of the Armed Forces on active duty under the Emergency Mortgage Relief Program.
